Priyanka Chopra opens up in ‘Vogue’

With a row of films like ‘Chamku’, ‘Drona’ and ‘Fashion’ set for release in a few months, Priyanka Chopra is definitely on a high these days. No wonder, the fashion magazine ‘Vogue’ chose this beauty to grace their covers for the September edition.

This issue reveals a lot of unknown facts about Priyanka including stuff like Priyanka has a thing for sweet and sour treats like jeera goli, that her career plans never included modelling and that she takes to the pen the way a fish takes to water. The issue also tells about how the gal’s aunt used to call her ‘Kaali’ and it was actually her Mom who should be attributed for her entry into the tinsel town. It was Priyanka’s mother who sent ‘passport sized snaps’ of Priyanka wearing a suit as an entry for the Miss India competition, something that was meant to be sent to Australia for a scholarship exam in an engineering college!

God…Tussi Great Ho

Who but a David Dhawan follower can turn Tom Shadyac's Bruce Almighty into 'Bruise The Almighty'.

This unintentional subverted farce insults God and humanbeings alike. It pretends to say something deep and indelible. It ends up being as profound as a bowl of soggy noodles staring at you for eadible nirvana.

Arguably one of the most botched-up comedies in recent times God, Tussi Great Ho takes us into territory that the Khan brothers Salman and Soahil have been together in David Dhawan's Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya.

The cartoon-like cat-and-mouse game between Salman and Sohail to get the perky pretty Priyanka's attentions is completely devoid of zing despite the familiar ring, though admittedly Sohail who's rapidly emerged as one of our most delightful comic actors(see him in Salaam-e-Ishq, Main PyarKyun Kiya and now this and watch him give Bade Bhai a run for his money) takes the lead.

The inhouse channel- war between the two Khans is reminiscent of Shah Rukh-Juhi's comic competitiveness in Aziz Mirza's hugely underrated Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. In fact Sohail is wickedly inventive in a plot that pulls the characters down with each creaking push of the writer's pathetic pen.

Who wrote this garbage? You wonder. And why must Mr Bachchan be subjected to this sort of tripe trip at this juncture of his career?

After Rishi Kapoor in Kunal Kohli's vastly-superior other-wordly satire Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic it's Mr Bachchan's turn to play God on a set that has a cascading waterfall, cotton-candy clouds and Salman suitably dressed in a formal suit.

What's missing is the fizz in this askew cocktail. As a writer Rumi Jafrey is on shockingly shaky grounds. Just like Salman's Volkswagon which changes colours from drab pink to bright red in the second-half when Salman gets godly powers from the 'real' God.

Never mind. Because Priyanka's nose- ring changes from left nostril to right. That's about all that the narrative gets right in the trite second-half.

The post-interval half is so crummy and scattered you wonder what happened to the director.Was he was on leave while God ghost-directed the second-half?

Appalling in structure and abysmal in content God, Tussi Great Ho is somewhat bearable for Sohail's comic aptitudes.

And yes, Priyanka is easy on the eyes.

Watch her in the soap ad on television rather than being part of a film where the characters are nothing more than a prop for the pale parody where all the colours come from the hyper-excited art director who was probably told to pull out all stops.

Wish our directors would know where to stop before comedy becomes a travesty.

Priyanka Chopra to play 12 different characters in What’s Your Raashee?

Bollywood successful actress Priyanka Chopra has created a history as she is going to perform 12 different roles in just 1 film. The title of the film is What Your Rashee is and it is directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar and in his film, Priyanka will play 12 different roles which depend on 12 different zodiac signs. According to the reports, the director hasn’t disclosed much about the film but the sources guesses that she will play 12 different roles based on 12 different zodiac signs. So according to the story, the title seems very reliable as her each character belongs to a particular raashee.

This ‘What’s Your Raashee’ is motivated from the novel titled Kimball Ravenswood and this novel is written by Gujrati writer Madhu Rye from US. In his novel he also tried to present number of characters and Gowarikar’s What’s Your Raashee also tried to do same with the help of Priyanka.

Let’s hope Priyanka plays 12 different characters in 1 film successfully and her acting will be appreciated by everyone.

Yes, I'm wearing a Bikini: Priyanka

Priyanka was shooting in Miami for Karan Johar's romantic comedy Dostana.And she had a ball.

"I've worked with Abhishek and John before. But never like this. Their bonding is infectious. Dostana was one big party. It's a beachside sporty film. And I'm very much a water babe. The director Tarun Mansukhani's is new but his wit sparkles.He's written a really urbane tongue-in-cheek comedy."

So has she changed her mind about wearing a bikini? "The producer Karan Johar didn't ask me to wear a bikini. And I wouldn't be comfortable in one. But this is a beach movie. So it's only natural that I get into beach-wear. And I don't mind at all. Because everyone else will be wearing even tinier clothes."

Priyanka Chopra can't stop raving about the new love in her life.

"No, his name isn't Harman. It's someone called Boo, a pet robot teedy-bear who accompanies me everywhere in Love Story 2050. He's all pink and the cutest creature on earth. I want to take him home."

Explains the actress, "I was aware of Boo from the time he was conceived. It was Harman Baweja's sister Rowena who thought of Boo. I don't think it'd have happened without her. I've watched Boo acquire a life right in front of me. So it's quite an exciting process."

So attached has Priyanka become to Boo that she wanted to carry him home after the shooting. And the Bawejas who've watched Priyanka stand by their project from the time Kareena Kapoor opted out, would be only too happy to let Priyanka have Boo.

Says Priyanka, "This was one film that's filled with gadgets and electronic toys. But Boo is special. Because he's mine. Love Story 2050 is my second hi-tech film after Krissh. And I'm doing one more Drona.

But Love Story was special because I did my career's first double role with two different looks for the two halves set in two different periods. Boo was part of my futuristic look. I feel this film carried sci-fi in India to another level."

Interestingly Love Story 2050 will be followed by another FX-motivated adventure saga Shankar's Robot. Priyanka had been signed for it when it was a different set-up with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.

"When FX turned a corner with Krissh I was part of it. Now when it somersaults with Love Story 2050 and Drona I'm part of both.Am I proud to be in these projects, or not?"

Priyanka Chopra is all set to fire at Box office in 2008

If all her film releases stick to plan, November 2008 may will turn out to be the busiest month ever for Priyanka Chopra. The reson being that she has two of her films lined for release this winter. Worse, both these films arrive within a fortnight of each other. This means that if there is no change in the plans, it would create a record for a mainstream leading lady to see two huge releases arriving back to back.

The films in question are director Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, which is set for a November 14 release, followed by Dostana which will have its D day on November 21. Though Bhandarkar and UTV had made their intentions quite clear long time back about Fashion’s release date, the announcement of Karan Johar’s Dostana has comes as a surprise. With both films being biggies and with such huge money involved, it certainly doesn’t look like a good business decision to have both films eating into each other’s business, especially as they have the same leading lady.

While Fashion revolves around Priyanka, with Kangana Ranaut, Mugdha Godse and Arjan Bajwa providing her ample support; Dostana has three leading men Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Bobby Deol, along with Priyanka. An interesting sidelight is that the film Victory, which stars Priyanka’s boyfriend, Harman Baweja, is also slated for a November 14 release, making it a lover’s clash at the box office. On the other hand, it may well lead to trouble in paradise for the father son ‘jodi’ of the Bachchans as Abhishek’s Dostana would be clashing with the Big B’s Aladdin and the Mystery of the Lamp on November 21. Yes, we can already see some huge juggling around the release dates this November!

Priyanka Chopra is wearing beachwear, not bikini in Dostana

Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming film Dostana presents the actress in a very glamourous makeover.

Shot mostly on the scenic beaches of Miami, the film, produced by Karan Johar and directed by his assistant Tarun Mansukhani, stars Priyanka Chopra as the love interest of John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan .

Reports claimed that Priyanka dons bikini for many steamy scenes in the film, but the actress has denied it.
“I am wearing beachwear, not bikini,” says the actress who has returned from Miami and is presently busy promoting her next release Love Story 2050 with Harman Baweja .

By a remarkable co-incidence, Priyanka has signed another romantic movie with Harman, titled What’s Your Raashi to be made by Ashutosh Gowarikar .

Priyanka says it’s great to tag up with her “good friend” Harman in two romantic films.
